LAOS – New Visa Exemptions in Laos
Let's Get More Lao!
The Lao government has implemented new visa exemption procedures. Travelers from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Norway, Spain, and Sweden will be granted a 15-day visa-free entrance to Laos beginning July 1, 2024. This initiative streamlines border entrance procedures and makes Laos more accessible to European visitors. The initiative also includes Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
These visa exemptions are valid upon entry into Laos and can be obtained at any of the country's three international airports (Vientiane-VTE, Luang Prabang-LPB, and Pakse-PKZ) or international land border crossings.
The exemptions and extended stay options are scheduled to endure until Visit Laos Year 2024, giving more accessibility for tourists for the foreseeable future. This strategy streamlines travel and is consistent with the country's aim to increase tourism and promote its unique cultural and natural assets around the world. These modifications are part of a larger campaign to showcase the country's rich cultural legacy and natural beauty, with the goal of increasing longer stays and return visitors.
With new visa exemptions making Laos more accessible, now is an excellent time to visit this interesting destination.
